Académie Scientifique de Beauté’s self-tanning products properties are due to the presence of DHA (dihydroxyacetone).
DHA is commonly used in cosmetics; it acts by « Maillard reaction » on the keratin of the corneous layer of the skin thus creating a natural tan.
The color disappears gradually with the frequent corneous layer renewal.
The melanocytes do not intervene in this artificial tanning method; there is no melanin production.
